You want a better life but you don’t know where to start and how to start. Well, here I try to answer from a career counselor advisor. Our work today is a big part of our identity, “What you do defines who you are”, this is a famous saying. For many people, having a better life largely means having a better career. While I agree with this belief, I would like to add that “who you are defines what you do”. So what should we do to resolve this dilemma: choose a job that makes us happy and is compatible with my inner self or choose a job that is socially recognized, has higher social status and considered as a prestigious job.
I personally, don’t want to be defined as my blog. I want to share my real identity through the digital world. At the moment, I claim that I’ve resolved the dilemma. I am trying to help others to get a piece of advice about their career and life faster, try to make people think about something, things they’ve taken for granted, This is the real me. I present myself as someone that can help people change. I don’t let my job roles, expectations and duties as a consultant, speaker and trainer define me. Doing my duties, I do my best to encourage people to look into the world differently ad experience new life styles. This is the real me. At the same time, it’s changing the world. It’s making a world a better place. It’s the valuable and recognized job.
The point that I’m trying to make is that never forget your dreams, plan for realizing them and imagine a career that is both appraised and representative of your interests and values. The first step is to put a new perspective to your job. Try to add your interest and values into the defined job description for you. For example, if you are a middle manager that your job says you should control your subordinates to meet production standards for whatever expense, see yourself as the leader of the team that wants to transform people to more capable and confident employees, a one that wants to make a small happy society. This way you are doing something satisfying and meaningful. And definitely, after a while, your efforts would be recognized by your company/customers.
